Like The Queen
Whatever happens to strike my fancy, but surely some sort of fiber content.

I'm so glad I'll get to see you at the Retreat!

I hope you have shaken off that bad dream by now, and have gone on to a satisfyingly good day.

Will you show Rho how to spin on her new spindle next weekend? She has some lovely sky-blue roving to work with, and I have been singing your praises...

I have bad dreams like that a lot. I tend to correlate the dreams with bad allergies, and also with having insufficient time to decompress at the end of the day - I can read all kinds of crazy mystery novels and even watch rather thrilling movies and my dreams are unaffected, but give me a day when everyone's at cross-purposes and I have too much work to do, and I'm having nighmares all over the place.

I am SO jealous of the people who get to sheep and wool shows, or retreats, or things like that. Even people who have local yarn shops or knitting groups. It gets lonely where I am.

I, too, don't like too dark or violent movies, as I'm not able to shake off that imagery easily. I remember the worst dream I ever had when I was a kid was after watching a horror movie I wasn't supposed to watch. Learned my lesson!

I think that you should take the KipFee sweater, not with the idea of knitting on it, but just for bragging rights. Think of all the "oohs" and "ahhhs" you'll hear. Enough to fuel you to the finish line! For the car - knit socks. :-)

And won't you be tempted to buy fiber if you don't bring even a small amount with you to spin, in case the urge hits?

I woke up at a seriously early crack0dawn hour after a bone chillingly bad dream. It was one of those "like watching a film then realizing you were the main character" dreams set in 19th century colonial Africa, with a major bad dude in charge and me having to abandon my brother to his fate (execution by bad dude dictator) or share it with him complete with suitable painful preludes.

So. Where do such bad dreams come from? I’m pretty careful about what I read or watch, because I do internalize things and I do process them in my dreams. I’d walked out earlier in the evening on the movie BD was watching ... something like Inside Man or Inside Job and directed by Spike Lee. I hadn’t checked that bit out on the back when I rented the DVD or I would have passed on it. I don’t like Mr. Lee’s world vision - too dark by a mile - and whiny too. I’ll be more careful next time. And I’ll blame him for the bad dream too.

Anyway, after waking up with a combination of horror and menopause sweats I just went ahead and got up. The one plus about dawn prowling is that even dial-up works at 4 a.m. I’ve managed to check up on most of my blogger friends as well as the Knitters Review forums.

Speaking of KRF and such - I will be going to the retreat in NY next week. I’ve dithered and waffled a good bit. I have a hard enough time leaving home anyway, but with the parents health issues this past week I had been even more doubtful about going. Happily, they are better. More happily, darling BH let me yammer on to her about it till I talked myself into going. So it’s off to visit way up Nawth next week.

Then comes that most portentous, that most serious decision of all:

What knitting to take along!

On the one hand, there will be 16-20 hours in a car - with wonderful careful darling J driving, thank you. That’s a lot of opportunity to knit. Think of the progress I’d make on the KipFee sweater.

On the other hand, think of all the mistakes I’ll make on it as I chatter on and on and, in that inimitable ENFP distractedness, drop stitches here and there and everywhere.

On the other hand, I have only one pair of Christmas gift socks knit - and socks are so mindlessly easy to knit.

On the other hand, I’m supposed to bring needles and yarn for both classes. (I’m going to the Thursday extension and the weekend bit) The mobius cast on and some short row techniques.
Then there is the New Beginnings project for this year. Last year I actually did begin something new, but last year I was so sick I couldn’t really concentrate on anything. I was clinging to that mountain top for dear life. I knit one sleeve of a sweater idea but never knit the rest. Of course, I’m not obliged to start something new. In fact, my new beginning project could be a finishing project. Like finishing the KipFee sweater, hmmm?

Then there are the spinning decisions. But I’ve already decided that I will only take one spindle just in case and probably not any fiber. I’m deep into knitting these days and can’t seem to share the time with my wheels. Besides, I’m still on my no new fiber oath. Don’t want to be tempted this close to the end.

Lawsee! I am always amazed at how much verbiage I can put on a page just musing along. And again, no photos. At least, not yet. It’s still early in the a.m. and I’m about to go knit on the KipFee sleeve, so who knows. I may have progress to display before I leave for work.

In the mean time - take care. Good knitting. Sweet dreams!
