Like The Queen
Whatever happens to strike my fancy, but surely some sort of fiber content.

The "clever justification" is great! Thanks!

I thought so too - I don't usually need justification, but it's nice to have the math to prove it, now.

For the stash embarrassed I offer you this clever justification.

Another gray wet day dawns, with only more of the same lying before us. I spent most of yesterday lounging in utter indolence, napping both morning and afternoon - to the point where I woke up at 3:30 this morning. It’s that weird weather where your fingers and toes are cold but if you move you break out in a sweat. BD and I lay abed reading to each other. We’re so ready for Aeneas to mark the end of Turnus’ life with javelin and sword. We had a lot of fun wondering if all those dead heroes would have been familiar to contemporary readers - much the same way Georgie Porgie or Jack Horner or Roland would be familiar to my generation. (I’m not all that sure the current young parents, certainly not today’s teens, would have a clue, even of their Mother Goose identities, much less their historic ones.) One of the sad things about not having a cannon is that literary references mean nothing.

My fingers are too sticky to spin - tried it and quit. I have a small sample length of lovely blue and pink mohair/wool blend that I want to knit in one of the Barbara Walker lace patterns - it ought to be simple, but I’ve foundered on row 6 three times now. Fer goodness sake - it’s only 17 stitches. Well, that is why we knit swatches. Thank goodness I’m not obligated to knit this in some big expensive project. I swear this is the most desultory fiber period I can remember. I am so ashamed that I have so little to show for so many months. Eh. Such is life. At least it is not as bad as my garden, which is nothing but mildew and phlox.

We’ll wind up Summer Reading Club this week. A cheer for that. But between now and Friday will be all the busy crammed days you can imagine. And smack in the middle is BH’s next court hearing in the sordid path of divorce. Eh well, it is exactly the sort of divorce one would have expected to come out of such a marriage. I may be up for posting this week. I may not. Logic tells me things can’t be as awful as they were last January, but emotion whispers doubtful images into my nervous ear.

September will be such a welcome month.
